McKey Perforating Expands Operations and Lean Manufacturing Practices

NEW BERLIN, Wis. – (May 26, 2009) – McKey Perforating Co. Inc., headquartered in Wisconsin, is a contract manufacturer of perforated and fabricated products with operations in Wisconsin and Tennessee. The company has completed a major expansion of its Manchester, Tennessee plant, which doubled the plant’s size to accommodate the double digit growth experienced following its opening in fall of 2000. As part of a lean manufacturing program, the New Berlin, Wisconsin headquarters was also recently remodeled for improved workflow and efficiencies, including the integration of its quality manufacturing and engineering departments.

McKey manufactures products used in cabinetry and enclosures, as well as in commercial buildings, airports, hospitals, universities, and other institutional buildings. Plant operations are ISO 9001:2000 approved, and produce a combination of custom-designed and standard products that are compliant and made to match extremely exacting customer requirements.

McKey Perforating is among the largest women-owned and operated businesses in Wisconsin. Owned and operated by Jean McKey, the company is listed as the 12th largest woman owned and operated Wisconsin business published in the 2008 Greater Milwaukee Business Journal’s Book of Lists.

The company has a legacy that spans almost 150 years, beginning as the Aitcheson Perforating Company in 1860, and renamed McKey Perforating Co., Inc. in 1957. Industrial applications have included perforated products for roofing, appliances, tractors, lighting filtration, water filtration, automobiles, trucks and mass transit.
